Surfing Legend Inducted Into Surfers’ Hall of Fame

Gordon “Grubby” Clark was inducted into the Surfers’ Hall of Fame after a long career in developing polyurethane foam molds for surfboards. Clark began working for Hobie Surfboards after spending two years in the Army, where he worked as a laminator to help pay off the rest of his college education. He began to look for a replacement material for balsa wood, which was more expensive and difficult to find. In the mid-1950’s, Clark began to develop polyurethane foam molds.

Hole in One with Polyurethane

Now that the warmer weather is finally settling in and the smell of a fresh cut fairway is in the air, you are bound to see more people at the driving range or out on the greens. Without the proper golf equipment, it may be a little harder making that hole in one, but versatile polyurethane is here to help.

New golf ball technology has been developed with a low-compression core and a polyurethane cover that can help the ball maintain a sufficient distance, maintain more control, and much more.

The RocketBladez Golf club innovations involve polyurethanes as...

Layup with Polyurethane

When it comes to court sports, polyurethane is in the starting line-up.

In most indoor basketball games and tournaments, the basketball itself is sealed with a polyurethane topcoat to protect the ball’s orange-tan dye finish. For outdoor use, the basketball cover is generally comprised of a polyurethane synthetic leather. These polyurethane materials not only duplicate the look and feel of a professional-level basketball, but protect the ball itself from wear and tear on outdoor courts thanks to the incredible durability of the material.

Polyurethane is often a key material in footwear, and basketball shoes are no...
