Start dusting off your favorite team’s jersey because football season is about to kick off! The excitement is in the air as everyone wants to cheer on their favorite team this fall.  Fun facts about football: Did you know that instead of the oval shaped football that we know now, back in 1869, it was shaped more like a soccer ball? Inside today’s football there is a high-tech three layer polyurethane bladder. Two of the layers are made out of polyurethane. Surfing Legend Inducted Into Surfers’ Hall of Fame

Gordon “Grubby” Clark was inducted into the Surfers’ Hall of Fame after a long career in developing polyurethane foam molds for surfboards. Clark began working for Hobie Surfboards after spending two years in the Army, where he worked as a laminator to help pay off the rest of his college education. He began to look for a replacement material for balsa wood, which was more expensive and difficult to find. In the mid-1950’s, Clark began to develop polyurethane foam molds.

Polyurethane Helps Give Bikers a Tougher Skin

An Australian mountain biker keen to protect an expensive new purchase is converting the two-wheel world to his polyurethane product.

Alan Vogt, owner-director of Canberra-based Frameskin Pty. Ltd., has developed a clear PU film kit that completely covers the bike frame.

Frameskin paint protection film is custom-made to fit specific models of mountain or road bikes. It can also be bought in sheet form to cover forks and other bike component parts.
