National Frozen Food Day celebrates all those yummy foods and snacks in your freezer. While that might be enough reason for us to indulge in delicious, frozen treats, we can’t help but mention that this holiday wouldn’t even be possible without the invention of the freezer!
The most common use of polyurethanes in major appliances is the rigid foam used in the thermal insulation systems of refrigerators and freezers. The polyurethane foam is located between the outer shell and inner liner of refrigerators and freezers to help insulate our food and create a durable bond between the outer and inner walls.
Next time you’re walking down the frozen food aisle in the supermarket, or storing those leftovers in the freezer, remember that polyurethane is helping keep that food cool and fresh!
